For me Kelly, starting the process always makes me feel one step closer to the final goal! I opened an account with Bank of Hawaii about a month ago. Received the debit card a week ago and already have begun transferring funds over there :-)
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #15042His water was off but he said otherwise they did well. And we too are ready for island weather!
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #15039Aloha Elaine and Husband! Your story reminds me of my wife…first time she visited she fell in love! Oh, and my Son lives in Austin. Hopefully that crazy weather you had didn’t cause too much drama in yours and your families lives.
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #14997Aloha Judi,
We also hope to make Hawai’i Island our home. Our daughter lives on O’ahu but the way I see it, it just means vacation time on another island! It will be great getting to know all of you :-)
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #14994Aloha Jackie and thank you for your nice words! Also, thank you for your service! I too found Hawai’i through the military but it was my dads time in the military. I hope you get to narrow down your window of coming to the islands, sooner rather than later. Either way, I wish you the best of luck in your journey back.
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #14986Aloha Katherine,
Based on what you stated we have something in common…I too would already be on the Big Island if it weren’t for the pandemic. All’s well though, gave us time to work through a few things and hopefully soon we’ll all be where we wish to be
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #14985Aloha Yvonne!
I was in San Antonio for 6 months during training for the Air Force in 1983. I loved when they turned the river green for St Patrick’s Day! We also have a family member on O’ahu but we’ll be trying the gardening and hiking on the Big Island. I hope we can all make our dreams come true :-)
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #14977Congratulations Michael on your up and coming retirement and thank you for your service! I wish I had made it to retirement but my life chose a different path for me. You definitely seem set up for a nice transition as I’m hoping we will all be
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #14974Agreed!
Finances definitely play a key factor in how things will go but I look forward (nervously…lol!!!) to the adventure! Besides, I’m long overdue for some malasadas!!
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #14972I loved the course! It called to me and made me want to be there now to live every day with Aloha…we can’t wait :-)
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #14967Aloha Jody,
While I haven’t been there since the 80’s I will say the one thing I miss about the UK is the endless and beautiful green rolling hills. I absolutely loved the countryside!
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #14966Aloha Mark and Lisa,
Like the both of you, we’re not sure how we’ll end up financially but we too will be excited to try…and hopefully all of us succeed!
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #14965Aloha Jason,
I definitely understand your love for the volcanic activity. While always hoping for the safety of everyone during Pele’s awakenings, one of my favorite times on the Big Island was walking out onto the lava fields and finding some of the breakouts, or watching the lava flow into the ocean!
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #14964Aloha Kelly and mahalo! Definitely enjoyed my time in the military but would have liked to be stationed like you, somewhere in the Pacific. Loved England though, especially being part of the Royal Air Force in unison with the United States Air Force :-)
in reply to: Introduce yourself! #14963Aloha Mark,
That’s interesting that you say you’re going home to Hawai’i! I’ve been saying I’m done with this extended vacation I’ve been having in California and am ready to go back home :-)
